Do you feel that enthusiasm to help? Here is a solution! At the East Africa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, we have a number of opportunities for you to volunteer. The church has several programmes that need your attention. The leadership believes that together with you, the mission of making disciples for the transformation of the world can be achieved.

Construction.
East Africa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church welcomes Volunteers to participate in construction work across the five countries of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan and Uganda. All these five countries suffer the aftershocks of civil wars where the infrastructure was severally destroyed. 90% of the church buildings are in semi permanent. Also are the;

               Health Centers
               Water points(Shallow wells, bore halls)

Leadership Development
The conference experiences high level of illiteracy-90%. Few pastors can read and write. In our 2010 to 2015 strategic plan, we target to carryout leadership development trainings for laity and clergy groups around the five countries. However we are short of training materials like; Bibles, Books of discipline, reference journals, general teaching material, tutors and instructors among others. We therefore encourage you to partner with us Today.

Microfinance
The church emphasizes poverty eradication among the congregation, pastors, staff and the surrounding communities. You can volunteer in giving micro finance management skills, entrepreneurship. We also encourage grants and sponsorship.

HIV/AIDS.
The church in East Africa Annual Conference continues to experience devastating consequences that AIDS continues to have across the five countries. Uganda alone has an estimate of 1.2 million people living with HIV. This includes 150,000 children. An estimated 64,000 people died from AIDS in 2009 and 1.2 million children have been orphaned. Rwanda has about 150,000 people living with AIDS, Burundi - 110,000, sudan-320,000.  The Conference now stands at  a projection of 8.640.000 children across the five countries. We need your help in emotional and spiritual healing, counseling, treatment, nutrition and many more

Medical
We have activities of medical outreach; malaria, HIV/AIDS, Prevention of Mother to Child Transition (PMTCT), water born diseases, fracture, dysentery, cough, TB, sexual transmitted diseases, eye, ear and nose illness, dental problem, cancer, boils, skin rush

Orphans.
The area does not only have orphans due to AIDS but also due to war. We have a big number of children recruited from war tone regions like Gulu in north Uganda, Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda and Congo. Most of these children are housed at our children Academy in Mukono. They are attaining education at Humble United Methodist School. Some of them are in Hope for Africa Children’s Choir. Support them both material and spiritual. They need clothing, feeding, education, counseling and child nurturing. So love a child Today.
Refugees.
The church caters for Refugees from Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. We have a total number of 386 registered at one of our churches in Kampala Uganda. There is however a need of training in the area of; language – many cannot read or write, many have language barrier since they come from French based countries. They are exposed to risks of drug abuse and prostitution. We need empowerment in entrepreneurship, training on substance abuse and related violence, micro finance.
Education
People perish because of lack of knowledge. Here the leadership takes education as a key priority. We have a total number of 50 schools of which only four are built.  We need construction support, teaching materials, teachers.
Media
We have a vibrant Communication Department but the manpower is minimal especially in the area of; video filming and production, video and audio editing, news gathering, journalism skills and training. Equipment; audio recorder, video camcorder, VHS players, DVD/CD players, video editing computers, software, laptops, transmission cables, head sets, printers, photocopiers and many more
