East Africa Annual Conference in Uganda
The United Methodist Church opened her doors in Uganda in 1991. Uganda adds up to Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and Sudan sovereign countries that make up the East Africa Annual Conference.
The church in Uganda has expanded to: 26,040 members, in 71 churches, and 6 districts. This Country however is unique because it hosts the EAAC - UMC Head Office right at the Capital City, Kampala.
This move was in May 2006, after the newly elected Resident Bishop Daniel Wandabulatransfered the East Africa Annual Conference Office from Nairob.
Brief History about Uganda
Uganda is an English speaking Nation of 31 million people. The Nation is aggressively building the basic infrastructure and developing human capital. Per capital income is reaching US$ 358, while life expectancy remains low at 45.3 years. Primary Education is compulsory and Vocational and Technical Education is accessible at Ordinary and Advanced level.
Uganda has real potential for qualitative improvement and quantitative growth in the East Africa Annual Conference. The government and people in Uganda are determined to: empower their people through education; build a basic infrastructure; and transform the nation.
The East Africa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church recognizes the uniqueness of Uganda, its governance, laws on any matter for the Peace, Order, Development and Good Governance.
