East Africa Annual Conference in Kenya

Kenya is one of the five countries that make up the East Africa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. The UMC Church begun here in 1992 and was officially registered by the government of Kenya in September 7, 1993.

Today, there is a total membership of 26,784 people with 71 churches and 71 Pastors. Kenya has 6 Districts of Busia, Nairobi, Nakuru,Naivasha, Central Nyanza, and South Nyanza.

Brief History about Kenya.

This is a Swahili speaking Nation, with a large percentage of people able to communicate in English.

Eighty percent of the 40 million populations is Christian and 10 percent are other faiths. Adult literacy rate is 85.1% free primary 8 education is compulsory. The gross national income per capita is US$ 455 ($1.25 a day). The life expectancy is 55.3 years.
