
PROVISION OF EDUCATION
The United Methodist Church in Sudan realized the need to provide education to the needy children with the lack of a central government in the south part of Sudan for a long time. Provision of education and other social services has been for the responsibility of different local churches and Non Governmental Organizations operating in the area.
Currently we are running six United Methodist schools in Yei. See list bellow giving enrollment. Most of these schools are under trees except Yei, which is in buildings belonging to the local authorities, but have been given only six months to leave the building.
THERE ARE SIX UNITED METHODISTS PRIMARY SCHOOLS:
Yei : Over 1000 pupils
Kisangani : 271
Pisak : 206
Libogo : 182
Kirkwa : 176
Kelego : 232
Only Salaam Primary School has all the classes P1-P7. other schools have nursery and a few classes in the primary section.
During the rainy season, many of the schools become seasonal, operating when it is not raining.
